Delivering Mission-Critical CCTV Surveillance Connectivity with Peplink SpeedFusion VPN
Overview
Each August Bank Holiday, Notting Hill Carnival brings over 2 million people to the streets of West London, making it Europe’s largest street celebration.
In 2025, event connectivity specialists Noba were commissioned to deliver a dedicated CCTV surveillance connectivity network to support crowd density monitoring and public safety across the Carnival footprint.
Working in partnership with Peplink, Noba engineered a resilient bonded network using Peplink SpeedFusion VPN technology, enabling real-time video streaming from 20 CCTV cameras located across the event area.
Using this approach all live feeds were unified into a single view, providing event control with full visibility of the entire Carnival environment — from side streets to main parade routes.
The Challenge
Providing reliable CCTV connectivity across such a vast, high-density event presented several technical challenges:
- Widespread Coverage: Cameras were distributed across multiple streets, rooftops, and temporary structures.
- Limited Infrastructure: Internet connectivity at each location varied from fibre, VDSL, bonded cellular and Starlink.
- Unified Visibility: All 20 cameras needed to operate on the same network and be viewable in real time from event control.
- Reliability Under Pressure: The system had to perform flawlessly in a live, mission-critical safety environment.
Our Solution
Noba designed a secure, CCTV network using Peplink’s SpeedFusion VPN, combining fibre, Starlink, VDSL and multiple 4G, 5G,links into one high-availability tunnel.
Key features of the deployment included:
- Peplink SpeedFusion VPN bonding for seamless failover and bandwidth aggregation across mixed links.
- Rugged Peplink routers at each camera site, optimised for stability in outdoor conditions.
- Multiple internet locations and routers – one network to display all camera feeds through a unified monitoring dashboard.
- End-to-end monitoring by Noba’s network engineers to maintain uptime and video quality throughout the event.
